It’s been two years since Satoshi Tomiie released his latest studio-length album, New Day, but he’s enlisted a handful of producers to breathe new life into its tracklist. To that end, DJ Sneak, Pablo Mateo, Ron Trent, Fred P and others have reimagined singles from the effort for a remix album titled Abstract Nature.
Several of the remixes appearing on Abstract Nature previously came out on vinyl samplers released at the same time as the album. Those previously offered up by Trent and DJ Sneak arrive as variations in production on the remix album, and Mateo, Hugo LX and Maayan Nidam contributed brand new re-rubs.
Tomiie’s contributions to dance music extend all the way back to the late ’80s, when he co-produced “Tears” alongside the late Chicago house icon Frankie Knuckles. His signature sound has evolved over the years; the Japanese DJ and producer has arguably managed to stay relevant without chasing more temporary electronic music trends.
Abstract Nature arrives by way of Satoshi Tomiie’s Abstract Architecture imprint. Find the tracklist for the remix album below.
