Over four years have passed since Dimitri From Paris inaugurated Le-Edits Records with reworks of disco classics “Native New Yorker” by Odyssey and “Light My Fire” by Dan Hartman. Half a dozen releases later, the Turkish-French DJ and producer has enough material for Le Box Set, which consists of the label’s first five LPs.
Le Box Set originally came out in November, and after selling out it’s getting a February 26th rerelease. Edits of songs by Phyllis Hyman, Keni Burke, Ashford & Simpson, Jamiroquai and Chaka Khan are included in the release. Each unit’s package is individually printed with the records comprising it arriving in nostalgic tip-on sleeves courtesy of Timmion Records in Helsinki, all of which is accompanied by a screen-printed tote bag.
Dimitri From Paris (real name Dimitrios Yerasimos) is often credited as having introduced the first-ever house music radio show broadcast in France via Radio NJR in 1986. He released his debut album, Sacrebleu, in 1996 on Yellow Productions. More recently, he was enlisted to remix “She Drives Me Crazy” by Fine Young Cannibals alongside Derrick Carter and Seth Troxler for December’s Fine Young Cannibals Remix EP.
