Three prominent organizations in the Irish nightlife community have joined forces for a new documentary, Clubbing Is Culture. The brainchild of No More Hotels, Thinkhouse, and Algorithm, the twenty-minute story highlights some of Ireland’s former nightclubs and explains their significance to the community. They also show how many local-favorite establishments have been shut down over the years and touch on their importance for those unfamiliar with their legacy.
In the documentary, you can hear from notable figures like Hazel Chu, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Philly McMahon of ThisIsPopBaby, Mona-Lxsa of Gxrl Code, Una Mullally of United Ireland, and designer John Mangru. Accompanying their words are a series of projected art displays showcasing images of the clubs’ past.
In the description of the video, the creators explain the thought process behind their documentary and emphasize the importance of honoring the culture of the nightlife.
