Concertgoers and artists are gearing up for the grand opening of Leeds’ next big event space. Coming sometime in 2021 is Testbed, a 10,000-square-foot, multipurpose venue dedicated to the arts.

The new venture is from The Wunderkind Group, who also operate a smaller-scale event space in Leeds called Sheaf St. Putting their hometown first, their mission states that Testbed will be “shaped by the city for the city’s future.”

“We want the venue to be shaped by the users needs rather than prescribed by us,” they wrote in an Instagram post. “We see the space being able to be utilized for everything from conferences to comedy, theatre to sporting events, and music to art.”

The minds behind the new venue are currently recruiting artists and organizers in preparation for life after COVID-19 vaccines become available to all. Across their social media pages, they shared a small teaser of the building and encouraged those interested in hosting events or using the space to get involved.

Testbed is set to host socially distanced events next year. At the time of writing, their website states that doors should open in the early half of the year, but no specific date was given at this time. Those interested in volunteer opportunities, sponsorships, bookings, learning more can sign up for the mailing list on the venue’s website.
