Kerri Chandler has announced a 2021 performance with more dimension than a typical DJ performance. Kerri Chandler’s Spaces & Places will see the New Jersey DJ and producer play a reel-to-real set accompanied by holograms of famous house singers. The event is slated for November 28th, 2021.

As a throwback to performances that shaped Chandler’s musical aesthetic by the likes of Frankie Knuckles and David Morales, he will play music using four reel-to-reel tape players. Famous house music vocalists will join Chandler onstage virtually via holographic images the likes of which he began experimenting with over a decade ago. The show will additionally debut projection mapping technology developed by Panasonic that will wrap around the round shape of the venue.

Kerry Chandler Revisited

By the time Kerry Chandler released his debut two tracker SuperLover/Get It Off via Atlantic Records in 1991, he was well steeped in house music and its predecessors. His father, Joseph Chandler, was a jazz musician who exposed him to soul and disco as well as disc jockeying itself. At 14 he began interning in recording studios and building his foundation as a producer.

November 2021 will not be the first time Chandler has performed with four reel-to-reel players. In February, he performed a reel-to-reel set in Resident Advisor‘s London office.
