Nyege Nyege Festival, among the biggest electronic music events in East Africa, has finalized the program for its 2020 event. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jinja, Uganda gathering will take place in digital format from December 3rd-6th.

Artists like Kampire, SlikbackSuzi Analogue and Waajeed are among the 341 acts billed for the four-day event. Multiple crews from across the globe are represented on the lineup, such as France’s Yoke Collective, South Africa’s Pussy Party, and Norway’s 3rd Space. Also included are AV installations, dance workshops and films. The full program is available here.

Nyege Nyege started out as a record label and collective in 2013. Founded by expats Arlen Dilsizian and Derek Debru initially as a club night at Tilapia called Boutiq Electronique, it emphasized obscure local electronic music styles like kuduro, tarraxinha and balani as well as western genres like house and techno. 2015 marked the first year of Nyege Nyege festival; it has taken place annually ever since at an abandoned resort in the city of Jinja.

More information is available on the Nyege Nyege website.
