Selector’s Sounds series follows a procedure that puts music quality before status or industry relationships. Learn how it works.

A new label by U.K. techno/house figurehead Truly Madly has released its first 12-inch record. MINDHELMET 01 comprises four unconventional minimal house singles by Gene On EarthKeplerJhobei and Noiro.

Despite bringing their own signature style to the compilation, each artist’s contribution marries psychedelic quirks and meticulous sound design in such a way that makes them functional as parts of a cohesive whole. The arguable standout of the effort is “Acid Communications” by Kepler. Seamlessly shifting through vibrant shades of house, ambient and electro, the track could be sensibly placed as a secret weapon in a wide variety of DJ sets.

According to Resident Advisor, Truly Madly’s electronic music career started in the ’90s but only built significant momentum in recent years. His mixes – some of which are 20 years old – have begun to garner attention of house and techno fans, affording him headline billings in not only his homeland but Germany and Ukraine.

MINDHELMET 01 is available for purchase in vinyl format via Bandcamp.
