Event organizers across the globe are beginning to envision what the path forward might look like during the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week saw Münster, Germany’s Coconut Club host one of the first social distancing-compliant dance parties. Now, footage of a gathering in Slovakia shows how cordoned-off squares can be used to promote safe dancing.
The video clip was uploaded to TikTok by a user named Tono Katrenčik. It demonstrates how organizers used a grid made out of red and white caution tape and stakes in the ground to section off space for each attendee on the dance floor at an event under a bridge.
The video depicts one of numerous ways event promoters are adapting to restrictions imposed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. Certain Berlin creative spaces have reopened as beer gardens to take advantage of lifted restaurant bans, and artists like Marc Rebillet have begun to schedule drive-in concert tours.
Katrenčik did not immediately respond to Selector‘s request for information about the Slovakian event.
