The 2022 edition of Romanian music festival Sunwaves is returning home this April and May.

The minimal-centric festival has attracted partygoers from around the world since 2007. The last time the festival took place in Romania was in 2019 on account of COVID-19 restrictions. In 2021, they held the event on the island of Zanzibar.

The 2022 event is currently scheduled for April 28-May 4th. Festivities will take place at Mamaia North, a large beach resort near the black sea, as well as Crazy Beach, a popular beachfront destination for tourists.

“Sunwaves is ready for its Spring Edition this year,” organizers wrote in an Instagram post. “Our first once since 2019, and we couldn’t be happier to meet with all of our friends on the Black Sea coast.”

While the lineup has yet to be announced yet, the festival attracts renowned minimal artists playing marathon sets and B2Bs.

2022 marks the 28th edition of the festival, dubbed “SW28”. Early bird tickets are available now for 289 lei. At the time of this writing, no announcement regarding COVID-19 protocol (proof of vaccination, negative test, etc.) has been made.
