Dubquake Records is producing a documentary on influential Leeds-based sound system/production group Iration Steppas.

Set to release in 2022, Ina Vanguard Style: A Documentary on Iration Steppas covers the collective’s deep roots in the world of dub music. Consisting of producers Mark Iration and Dennis Rootical, Iration Steppas is considered by many a Leeds institution. The pair met in 1993 during a time when U.K. sound system culture was evolving. They created their own sound production style, called “Year 3000 Dub,” referencing their desire to embrace the past and future at the same time.

The documentary also covers their coming of age in a West Indian community and their experimental productions blending dub and acid house. Produced by Dubquake Records and presented by Hometown Promotion Soundsystem, Ina Vanguard Style: A Documentary on Iration Steppas is set to premiere on Vimeo on February 6th. A limited number of DVDs will also be released via Bandcamp at the same time.

To celebrate the documentary’s production, Dubquake released a 12-inch vinyl record bundle titled 90s Classic Cutz Package. The release includes reissues of Iration Steppas tracks along with previously unreleased dubplates, and it is out now.

Find information on the vinyl release via Dubquake Records Bandcamp.
