Selector’s Sounds series follows a procedure that puts music quality before status or industry relationships. Learn how it works.

In April, Oxygeno inaugurated his new record label, Lost Verses, with the hard-hitting Mirror Of Confusion [LV001]. The Spanish DJ and producer has now followed it up with A Vicious Cycle [LV002]. The four-track techno EP released in digital and vinyl format September 10th.

On the more hypnotic end of the spectrum is “Bad Habits,” whose cavernous lead synths offset lush atmospheres and glitchy textures. “Endless Carousel” and “Time is Running Out” utilize darker, more dissonant motifs; each single’s high-pitched smattering of notes evoke an air of suspense. Lakej returns Vicious Cycle to its relatively tranquil origins with a meditative remix of the latter track.

Who is Oxygeno?

Oxygeno (real name Diego Amido Teijeiro) was born in 1995 in Vilalba, Spain, and has become a fixture of the worldwide techno landscape in just over two years. His debut release, Chapter 1, arrived via Mexican label Illegal Alien Records in September 2019 followed by Chapter 2 in March of the following year.

Outside of Lost Verses, Teijeiro also landed on venerated labels Edit Select and Mord. The former gave a home to Chapter 3 in July 2020 and Everything Ends In Silence in January 2021. The latter included his and CONCEPTUAL‘s “Bad Romance” on their April compilation, Bareknuckle Boxing – Volume 2.

A Vicious Cycle is available in both digital and 12-inch vinyl record format via Lost Verses Bandcamp.
