Broadcast journalist Tom Latchem has partnered with former DJ and producer Cris.E.Manic (real name Chrissy Richards) on a series called R.O.A.R: The ’90s Rave Podcast. For the first episode of the series, they brought on U.K. jungle/drum and bass innovators Fabio & Grooverider as guests.
Beginning with their introduction to electronic music in the late ’80s, Fabio & Grooverider (real names Fitzroy Heslop and Raymond Bingham, respectively) talk about how their music emerged from the house and hardcore scenes of the time. They go on to discuss their personal lives and B2B chemistry in addition to answering more tongue-in-cheek questions.
Often called the godfathers of drum and bass, Heslop and Bingham are each a foremost authority on the genre. The latter artist was also interviewed for a recent documentary titled Drum & Bass: The Movement.
Latchem and Richards have recorded the first four episodes of R.O.A.R: The ’90s Rave Podcast, but will rely on donations to keep moving forward with the series. You can support them via GoFundMe.
