An open-source spreadsheet containing ways to purchase music directly from Ukrainian musicians and record labels has been widely shared on social media.
The spreadsheet contains a large list of Bandcamp links belonging to Ukrainian artists and record labels. Its organizers also encourage anyone interested to donate to humanitarian aid organizations. Links to charities such as Nova Ukraine, UA Hospitals, and Vostok SOS are included.
As of this writing, 106 artists and labels are included on the spreadsheet in the “CHARITY SUPPORT” section. “PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN AID AS THE MAIN OBJECTIVE,” organizers write.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine that began on Thursday, February 24th has created a humanitarian crisis as Ukrainian citizens are displaced due to the fighting. Many in the music industry have responded by helping raise funds for aid organizations that directly help those on the ground via live streams and direct donations to aid organizations.
