Set for February 23rd-27th, New York’s third annual Dweller festival will explore “intergenerational connections in Black electronic music.”
Festival organizers announced the lineup on Instagram, saying, “Dweller 3 is finally here.” Scheduled artists include Underground Resistance, Juliana Huxtable, and TYGAPAW. The festival hopes to explore how connections within the Black electronic music community help create something new and unique. They ask, “How do we find each other in the noise?”
Certain details about the festival are not yet annouced, including their COVID-19 precautions (as of this writing all NYC attendees must have proof of vaccination). Organizers say details will be available “very soon.”
Dweller has regularly taken place at the Bossa Nova Civic Club in Brooklyn, New York. A recent building fire has forced the DIY venue to close for an undetermined amount of time, however. Its owners are currently accepting donations to help with the repairs, and those interested in contributing can head here.
According to their Instagram page, Dweller bills itself as a “festival for Black electronic artists” as well as a “blog centering on Black perspectives.” They use their platform to elevate Black artists via interviews, blogs, and other media that explore topics important to the Black electronic music community.
