Baltimore House DJ Lisa Moody Passes Away

Baltimore DJ Lisa Moody – one half of DJ duo The Girl Squad and co-promoter of the Deep Sugar events – has passed away.

According to reports on social media, the house music artist died on Saturday morning of as yet undisclosed causes. Her friends and collaborators have shared tributes on social media, including Baltimore jazz singer Maysa Leak and the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment.

Moody made a name for herself as part of The Girl Squad alongside Baltimore singer, DJ and producer Ultra Naté. In 2003 the two launched a Baltimore house music event brand called Deep Sugar, which has billed headliners like Tony HumphriesQuentin Harris, and Louie Vega.

Moody remained active up until her passing and was slated to perform at a number of upcoming events. Among them was the Deep Sugar 18th Anniversary, where she would have shared the stage with David MoralesKenny BobienThe Elders, and others at Baltimore Soundstage on November 21st.

No details of a memorial service for Lisa Moody have been shared with the public at the time of writing.
