After a brush with death that resulted from an alleged argument with his father that turned violent on Friday night, Joseph Capriati was said to be in stable condition on Saturday. His management firm, parallel, has issued a statement confirming his injuries are not life threatening, and more details of the incident have come to light.

“Thank you all for the love you are showing to Joseph – fans, colleagues, DJs and friends,” reads parallel’s statement. “We want to reassure you that Joseph’s injuries are not life threatening and he sends you all a big and warm hug.”

Capriati was taken to a hospital in Caserta after his father, Pietro Capriati, allegedly stabbed him with a kitchen knife and punctured his lung. DJ Mag reports that the quarrel was originally between Joseph and his mother. When his father stepped in Joseph punched him, prompting his father to stab him with the kitchen knife.

According to La Republica, Joseph Capriati underwent a collapsed lung surgery by Major Trauma Surgery Department Director Alberto D’Agostino at the Sant’Anna and San Sebastiano hospital. He was also given a blood transfusion.

Joseph Capriati, 33, ordinarily lives in Spain but moved home with his family after his touring schedule was sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic. His father, 61, had no prior offenses, according to the police. Their argument was said to have involved a property-related matter.

Joseph Capriati has yet to publicly comment on Friday night’s altercation at the time of writing.
