Junkie XL has announced that he will be parting ways with a significant portion of his rare studio equipment next month.
Like Derrick Carter‘s sale back in October, the Dutch composer and DJ will be selling some of the instruments he used to create his iconic scores on the online marketplace Reverb.com. The official announcement post dedicated to the sale states that “more than 200 synths, samplers, and other electronic instruments, nearly 100 pedals, 30-plus microphones, dozens of guitars, drums, and more” will be listed in his store.
Notable entries include his Moog Minimoog Voyager XL which he used to score popular films like Deadpool, Mortal Engines, and Mad Max: Fury Road. He will also be selling a custom-built clone of the ARP 2600 with proceeds going to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Junkie XL (real name Tom Holkenberg) showcases some of the gear that will be available for sale in December. He explains how he amassed such a large collection over the years and gives some backstory to some of the pieces that will be shipped off. At the end of the video, he says that the reason for the sale is that he is downsizing his studio and getting rid of some of his lesser-used gear so that he can focus on his primary tools.
