2020 has marked the revival of techno figurehead Jeff Mills‘ 20-year-old Millsart alias. After shelving the project in 2003 he’s released a series of EPs in rapid-fire succession. A month after the release of Every Dog Has Its Day Vol. 6, he has dropped Vol. 7 alongside the dates for the three installments to follow.
Every Dog Has Its Day Vol. 8, 9 and 10 will arrive by way of Axis Records on June 18th, July 16th, and September 17th, respectively. If past serves as any indicator, fans can expect more tranquil and melodic yet still contemplatively Mills-esque soundscapes from the future editions of the series.
“The concept behind the Every Dog Has Its Day project is about all the +/- measuring one does in his or her life,” wrote Mills in Facebook post. “‘As Is’ is used as the narrative that runs through the tracks that started the project back in 2000 (Vol. 1) and remains to this day with Vol. 7 and all the forthcoming releases. Considered as electronic ‘folk music’ that leans towards jazz arrangements at times, it is unique in the fact that projects a certain sense of intimacy and speaks to the one, rather than the many.”
Every Dog Has Its Day Vol. 6 can be previewed and purchased via the Axis Records website.
