Born in Río Gallegos and based in Buenos Aires is another DJ and producer helping put Argentina on the map. While his style of progressive house is a far cry from what some have termed the “Argentinian Sound,” the four-song Extend EP by Scippo impresses all the same. Its worldwide release via Pangea Recordings is slated for July 3rd, 2020.

Scippo certainly made his Pangea debut count. By employing different methods for each single comprising the EP, he showcases the wide range of his signature sound. “Crystal Memories” may well be strongest entry of the lot for its deliberate progression and inventive atmospheres.

Scippo’s Breakthrough

Emiliano Scippo (known mononymously by his last name) has studied music since the age of 15 according to a press statement. Two years later he relocated from his birthplace of Río Gallegos to Buenos Aires and began laying the groundwork for his electronic music career.

2019 marked a major turning point as Scippo debuted on Hernan Cattaneo‘s Sudbeats label, followed by placement on Nick Warren‘s The Soundgarden mix compilation. Samer, who runs Pangea Recordings, has also signed him for upcoming remixes beyond his debut on the label.

The Extend EP is available for download ahead of its worldwide release via Beatport.

Silat Beksi Stuns on Dreamlike 12″ Record, GAAZOL004 https://selector.news/2020/05/26/silat-beksi-gaazol-gaazol004/ https://selector.news/2020/05/26/silat-beksi-gaazol-gaazol004/#respond Tue, 26 May 2020 17:42:49 +0000 https://selector.news/?p=2397 Selector’s Sounds series follows a procedure that puts music quality before status or industry relationships. Learn how it works.

Bridging the sonic landscapes of progressive and minimal house is the latest offering by Silat Beksi. Via French label GAAZOL, which specializes in the latter subgenre, the Ukrainian producer will deliver a 12-inch vinyl record titled GAAZOL004. It’s due out for release July 30th, 2020.

The first single on the A-side is “Anna,” a melodic cut named after Beksi’s bride of five years. “Awaia” follows, with dissonant sound design that leans more towards GAAZOL’s usual fare. The B side consists of a Daniel Broesecke collaboration titled “Wings” along with a remix of said track offered up by Sepp.

GAAZOL inaugurated in 2017 with a three-song effort by Japanese talent Yoshitaca. The label has explored numerous shades of the minimal house and techno spectrum ever since, championing music by the likes of DoubtingthomasBitterjazz and Modbox.

Beksi himself boasts a career extending much further back. According to Trommel he was mentored by Ukrainian tastemaker iO (Mulen), with 2015-2016 arguably marking his breakout. In addition to his own imprint, Modeight, Beksi’s music has found a home on such labels as Pleasure Zone, Dreams Are Not Inside, What You Want, and Vivus Records.

GAAZOL004 is available for pre-order via deejay.de.
