Taipei nightlife fixture Pawnshop is seeking financial aid to avoid permanent closure. The popular nightclub has been closed for the past three months due to restrictions instituted by the Taiwanese government to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and it has launched a fundraiser to help with the financial losses suffered during that time.
The fundraiser includes multiple donation tiers with various rewards, including branded T-shirts, screen prints, and passes to future events. As of yet, no timetable for reopening has been shared as Pawnshop’s plan is contingent on the Taiwanese government’s COVID-19 guidances. In May, following a lengthy period of extremely low infection rates, a surge of positive cases caused a shutdown of all of Taiwan’s music venues.
Pawnshop is known for its house and techno parties, but the club space also plays host to several workshops and events for creatives. To donate to the Save Pawnshop fundraiser, visit the official Flying V donation page.
