A notable Tbilisi electronic music institution risks permanent discontinuation without community support. Mzesumzira has launched a fundraiser for eZo Festival as it was not able to take place as usual in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Unfortunately, we don’t really know if eZo Festival will ever take place again,” reads the fundraiser description. “The pandemic is hard on us too and we’re out of resources. We’ve done everything that could have been done to survive, but there is a good chance we won’t be able to make it to the end of the tunnel. We don’t want to disappear so silently, after so many loud parties that spread nothing but happiness.”
Donations of €15 or more will be awarded with the full Mzesumzira release catalogue, which presently consists of 28 tracks from 12 artists. Donors are also given the option to forego their rewards.
Mzesumzira has organized eZo Festival since 2015; it consists of monthly parties running throughout the summer. Previous editions have billed the likes of Derrick Carter, Margaret Dygas, Priku and Raresh.
