Steve Sutherland – an artist and radio host whose career touched on hip-hop, R&B, UK garage and grime – has passed away. The British DJ and producer’s cause of death is unknown to the general public at the time of writing.

U.K. singer Gemma Fox first broke the news on social media. Artists like Trevor NelsonBeverly Knight and Jumpin Jack Frost tweeted tributes to Sutherland soon afterwards, as did brands like Twice as Nice and the MOBO Awards.

Sutherland boasted a career spanning three decades; he was among the founding members of Twice as Nice. His first big break arrived in 2000 when Choice FM brought him on to host a radio show following the success of a one-off BBC Radio 1 appearance. He went on to win four MOBO Awards and released a number of charting compilation albums.

Nelson also paid tribute to Sutherland on the air via BBC Radio 2, according to the Daily Mail.
