Over 180 people were arrested at an underground rave in Los Angeles last weekend.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Super-Spreader Taskforce arrived at two commercial buildings where the gathering was being held and subsequently arrested 182 adults for breaching COVID-19 containment protocols put in place by the city. Each of the people were cited and then released.
“Sheriff Alex Villanueva has made it clear he will seek out & take law enforcement action against ALL underground party events occurring anywhere within Los Angeles County, who fall under the Health Orders of the County’s Department of Public Health,” said the Sherriff’s Department in a statement shared via Twitter.
This is not the first instance of Los Angeles parties breaking COVID-19 protocol. In late November, the city of Los Angeles filed a lawsuit against LA Party Society manager Yves Oscar Jr. and real estate investor David Taban after the two had been found to be hosting parties for months on end during quarantine. The City seeks to shut down LA Party Society permanently and fine each defendant for up to $3.65 million.
