Detroit duo Ataxia have released the lead single from their upcoming effort, The Supertouch EP. Titled “Time Original,” it exhibits an inventive take on techno without betraying the time-tested sensibilities of the genre.
Dynamic, diverse and driving, “Time Original” begins with a rolling drum beat before sound effects, synths and a vocal refrain layer in. A series of unorthodox changes follow, exploring more than a singular groove before the arrangement returns to its original motif.
Ataxia’s big break arguably came last year when Seth Troxler signed them to his artist label, Play It Say It. 2017 has proven eventful for them as will. Prior to their upcoming EP, the duo released another one titled The Rickaverse on Leftroom Records.
“Time Original” is but one track of the three comprising The Supertouch EP; the other two go by the titles “Supertouch” and “Villain.” The whole of the EP is due out tomorrow, July 7th, on Play It Say It.
