U.K. label Planet Mu celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and they’re releasing with a compilation that will include individual tracks from upcoming releases. PlanetMµ25 is due out December 4th.
Speaker Music, DJ Nate, Skee Mask and Jana Rush are but a few of the artists whose music will appear on the compilation. Of the seven exclusives, six will be included on albums set to release in 2021.
“We were going to make it more of a ‘thing,’ have a larger celebration,” reads a Planet Mu statement. “But of course with COVID-19 spreading around the world at the beginning of the year we decided to revise our plans and simply release a low-key mid-price CD compilation showcasing some of the artists we are working with at the moment.”
Planet Mu was originally launched by U.K. DJ and producer μ-Ziq (real name Mike Pardinas) in 1995 as a Virgin Records imprint before splitting off in 1998. It has provided a platform for IDM, juke, dubstep and adjacent artists through to the present day.
