Selector’s Sounds series follows a procedure that puts music quality before status or industry relationships. Learn how it works.

Accented Measures is the proud new co-owner of a record label whose debut release is his latest EP. M-Tone has inaugurated with Photons, a four-song effort including remixes by Monika RossAndrew George and Ed Herbst. It releases July 25th, 2020.

The titular track’s original mix is defined by an interplay between upbeat percussion and gentle atmospheres. The remixers didn’t deviate far from the motif of the source material, but each rendition is unique in its dance floor functionality. George (who co-owns M-Tone) and Herbst explore different melodic tangents in their re-rubs, whereas the one delivered by Ross features a sultry spoken-word sample at the breakdown.

Accented Measures A.K.A. Aurythm

Accented Measures (real name Kofi Agyeman) was born in Berlin and currently resides in Madrid after making a name for himself in Manchester, according to Trommel. He previously released music under the alias Aurythm – notably on compilations from labels like KÄSE KOOL and Crude Wax.

Agyeman debuted as Accented Measures with the 2019 Trade Off EP via ODT Records. The three-track effort encapsulated his distinctive signature sound: a boundless grey area where wonky sound effects meet soft, cerebral melodies.

Pre-order Photons in both digital and vinyl format via Bandcamp.
