Insomniac Events founder Pasquale Rotella has announced the biggest change to his flagship festival in years. In an official statement, he confirmed that the 2018 edition of EDC Las Vegas would take place from May 18th-20th instead of its usual June date range.
Rotella attributed the switch to “better weather and camping,” as next year’s installment of the festival will also be the first to feature an adjacent campground. He suggested that the change would improve the event’s ongoing traffic dilemma, writing, “There will be traffic in and out of the festival, but if you want a one-and-done journey to the Speedway, just camp out.”
In addition, Rotella acknowledged that this year’s official EDC shuttles had been a failed experiment. “Shuttle operations will be handed over to an independent company that specializes in the largest music and sporting events in the country,” he revealed. “This is what they do, and they do it better than anyone else, year over year.”
Insomniac Events will not announce any of EDC Las Vegas 2018’s lineup details until spring of next year. Tickets are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks, however.
