Venezuelan ethereal techno DJ duo Fur Coat are a month away from launching their artist label. Sergio Munoz and Israel Sunshine have released music through such avenues as Watergate RecordsCrosstown RebelsLast Night On Earth and BPitch Control, but their new EP, Genesis, will arrive by way of their new imprint, Oddity, on July 14th.

Oddity will serve as a platform for the melodic and vaguely tribal sort of techno for which Fur Coat have garnered global renown. The duo told Thump Colombia that they had sought to create their own label for some time, explaining:

Launching our own label was something we had in mind for a long time. It is a platform where we can express and we will have 100% control of the artistic concept that we want to include in each vinyl, the music we want Show both ourselves and other artists with whom we share a passion, and gives us the opportunity to invite them to post on the label.

Both the vinyl and digital versions of Genesis consist of three tracks, but one is different depending on the format. “Parallel Dimensions” is digital only, whereas “Sustain” will be available exclusively on hard copy.

Neither Munoz nor Sunshine have disclosed any names of additional artists that will release music on Oddity at this time.
