Renowned audio company Sonnox has announced that it is now merging with the Focusrite Group. The 16-person team led by founder Rod Densham is involved with brands such as ADAM Audio, Sequential, Oberheim and more.
“Whilst we’re a relatively small team, we’ve always had significant ambitions for our future, aiming to develop and release an increasing number of products that best meet the evolving needs of new and existing customers,” Rob said in Sonnox’s press release. “Finding the right partner was key to achieving these ambitions, and we believe we’ve found that in the Focusrite Group.”
Sonnox began in the 1980s, releasing the Oxford OXF-R3 digital mixing console. With an asking price of $1 million (equivalent to $2.7 million in 2022), the console became standard in music studios worldwide. Soon after, Sonnox began their journey into software, creating the Oxford EQ and Dynamics plugins. Today, Sonnox carries a variety of software plugin options for musicians, TV and film, and sound engineers.
Focusrite CEO Tim Carroll said in the company’s press release regarding the merger:
