Apple’s updates for Logic Pro, GarageBand and MainStage fix various bugs and adds new features.
Here are some of the new features provided in each new update:
Logic Pro 10.7.5:
Logic Pro’s update comes with a trove of new features to increase workflow.
The Smart Tempo feature adds a “Free Record” transport button for metronome-free recording.
The dB in Logic tracks can be adjusted quickly and easily using the Gain Tool.
Track Stacks allow an additional level of workflow hierarchy, organizing project files by high track count. The new feature also allows the creation and management of audio subgroups.
MIDI recording from plugins is now allowed. This means Logic can now capture user and controller MIDI data for more precise editing.
Pedalboard’s 35-stompbox collection is now available as individual plug-ins.
Personalized Spatial Audio profiles made in iOS 16 work in Logic 10.7.5.
Ableton Link is now available, with compatible and supported software and hardware.
GarageBand and MainStage
Minor bug and stability features and more come with GarageBand and MainStage.
The 10.4.7 update for GarageBand adds over 480 Apple Loops and 18 Drum Kits, geared towards hip hop and electronic music production.
MainStage also adds the 35 stompboxes in Pedalboard as individual plugins.
Pricing
Logic Pro 10.7.5 is available as a free update via the App Store. The full version costs $199.99.
Apple advises users to “make sure to back up the currently installed version of the Logic Pro application and your Logic Pro projects” before installing.
MainStage 3 is $39.99 on the App Store. GarageBand is free to download for both Mac and iOS users.
