A new Amsterdam nightclub called Parallel opened its doors earlier this month.

Opening festivities at the club were held on March 12th and featured South African artist DJ Lag. Local event organizer Paradiso, which runs another dance venue housed inside a converted Dutch church, will curate lineups for the space. They also plan to team up with local promoters from across Amsterdam. Future weekends at the venue will host artists such as RebelleKarenn, and Pangaea.

While no COVID-19 requirements are listed on the site, as of this writing the Dutch government mandates that events with more than five hundred attendees must require proof of a negative test result.

Joshka Landsheer, part of Parallel’s marketing team, told Resident Advisor, “Parallel isn’t about big headline DJs but about people connecting and enjoying (new) music and art together.” He went to say that the goal of the is to host club nights as well as live events featuring hip-hop and electronic music artists. The club hopes to host a range of musical genres including amapiano, UK garage, techno, and Afro house.

The venue itself sits in a former space called Tolhuistuin in North Amsterdam. Those interested in learning more about the venue can visit the Parallel website.
