Roland is celebrating 50 years in business with a new interactive website chronicling its rich history in the electronics world.
The “Roland at 50” page begins at their founding in 1972 showcasing the gear manufacturer’s inventions and innovations through each decade. Synths, sequencers and drum machines created by Roland are accompanied by facts about each piece.
Additional articles and interviews for Roland enthusiasts are live on the site, celebrating Roland’s reach in inspiring musicians worldwide. Some topics on the page include the history of Roland samplers and the enduring appeal of the TR-606 drum machine. Another notable feature includes a song breakdown of Norwegian pop band A-ha‘s seminal hit “Take On Me.”
“Since its founding in 1972, the musical instrument manufacturer has continued to develop epoch-making products, touching nearly every music genre and meeting the demands of creators all over the world,” Roland CEO and Representative Director Jun-ichi Miki said of the company’s milestone.
50th Model
Alongside celebrations of their achievements, Roland has announced commemorative anniversary products releasing throughout 2022. The new product debuts include an upcoming 50th Model line slated for release on April 18th – the date of Roland’s founding in 1972.
