The Rossum Electro-Music SP-1200 is an authentic reissue of the classic E-MU Systems SP-1200 sampler. Its internal design comes from the engineering of the latest 35th anniversary SP-1200 Renovation, using analysis of vintage units not available during SP-1200’s original production run.
The reissue also boasts smoother controls, an adjustable red backlit LED screen, as well as steel and aluminum casing in the classic original shape.
Rossum’s SP-1200 maintains the same 12-bit linear data format and 26.04 kHz sampling rate as all vintage SP-12 and SP-1200 units. Users can sample up to 20 seconds of audio time, double the time of what the E-MU version offers. Project files using the original 10-second sampling time can even be extended to run 20 seconds.
The SP-1200 reissue also comes with a memory card slot to save, rename, and delete files and folders. The sampler also supports importing vintage SP-1200 .HFE format disk images.
The “Set-up Special” functionality transfers all sounds and sequences from the original SP-1200 to the Rossum SP-1200 reissue using a standard MIDI cable. A 3.5″ floppy disk drive is also available for vintage users looking to retrieve older project files.
The Rossum Electro-Music SP-1200 costs $3,999; shipping is expected to begin in January 2022. Find more information on the Rossum Electro-Music website.
