With the Indian COVID-19 strain rendering the U.K. reopening timeline dubious, newly imposed travel restrictions hamper live events elsewhere as well. Love International Festival in Tisno, Croatia, previously scheduled for July 14th-21st, 2021, has been rescheduled for July 13th-19th, 2022.
Croatia is included in the “amber” category of the traffic light system that went into effect today, May 17th. Under the guidance, visitors to the country are required to quarantine at home for ten days and test negative for COVID-19 numerous times prior to departure.
“We have been holding on like everyone for some positive news and clarity on international travel and with last week’s inclusion of Croatia on the amber list feel that we have arrived at the point where we need to make this very difficult call,” reads a Love International Festival statement. “The current need for both quarantining and PCR testing added to that uncertainty at this time make us feel this is the right decision for all involved.”
Tickets to the 2021 event will be valid for the 2022 dates, per the statement. The organizers noted that rolling them over will give the operation the best chances of remaining afloat, but they will nonetheless offer full refunds.
Love International Festival inaugurated in summer 2016, a year after the final edition of its successor, Garden Festival, which took place annually for ten years. Joy Orbison, Omar S, DMX Krew, Horse Meat Disco, Roman Flugel, and Ben UFO are but a few of the artists that have been billed for the Adriatic gathering.
Despite the circumstances, organizers closed out their statement with hope. “This one definitely has hurt us all a lot but we know that 2022 will be even better,” they wrote.
