On Saturday, India posted the highest single-day COVID-19 figures of any country thus far with 401,993 new cases and 3,700 deaths. The labels Asymetrik and Discostan Records have launched fundraisers to benefit the ailing population.
Asymetrik, a Goa-based label specializing in South Asian artists, has released a 14-song compilation titled S O S [Charity Compilation]. It includes songs by the likes of label boss Arjun Vagale A.K.A. Asymetrik himself, dotdat, Kollision, Sublime Sound and Audio Units. According to a description, the release was put together “in a couple days.”
Los Angeles-based Discostan Records, on the other hand, has collaborated with Akshay Vig on a design for artwork and screen-printed clothing. Proceeds from the compilation will go to New Delhi humanitarian aid organization Hemkunt Foundation, and Discostan will split those of the design between Hemkunt and medical emergency fund Ketto India.

“Our healthcare infrastructure is crippled – the system is broken!” reads part of a statement by Vagale. “It’s now up to each of us to do our bit and help one another. As artists sitting at home, perhaps the best help we can offer is via our music.”
S O S [Charity Compilation is available for purchase via Asymetrik Bandcamp, and instructions for purchasing the Discostan/Akshay Vig collaboration can be found in their Instagram post. Donations can also be made directly to either benefactor organization at HemkuntFoundation.com and Ketto.org.
