Selector’s Sounds series follows a procedure that puts music quality before status or industry relationships. Learn how it works.
A sonic cross section of the techno spectrum, We Are Not Alone Pt. 3 has arrived via Ellen Allien‘s BPitch Berlin. The compilation marks the final installment of a series that kicked off in October. It released in digital format on January 29th.
Holding up the more minimal end on the compilation are tracks like “Kassi” by Lada (Dasha Rush and Lars Hemmerling), “Sourde” by Cosmin TRG, and “Basic” by Truncate. “Silent Tension” by Setaoc Mass, “Terrified” by Shlomi Aber and “Chaos Transition” by Adriana Lopez offer darker motifs well reflected by their titles. Opposite them are ambient, melodic selections like “EQ 10MG Base” by Ryan James Ford and “Culture” by Hemka.
Ellen Allien and BPitch
After growing up in West Berlin and living in London during the 1989 acid house heyday, Ellen Allien first made a name for herself with early ’90s residencies at clubs like Tresor and E-Werk. She launched BPitch Berlin – originally called BPitch Control – in 1999, basing the name on parties she threw under the Pitch Control banner starting in 1997.
Over the years, BPitch has championed music by the likes of Alan Oldham, Thomas Muller, Housemeister, Ben Klock and Modeselektor. The first two installments of the We Are Not Alone series included tracks by Yan Cook, DJ T-1000, Rebekah and Allien herself, among others.
We Are Not Alone Pt. 3 is available for purchase in digital format via BPitch Berlin Bandcamp.
