The organizers of electronic music festival Decibel Open Air have announced the full lineup and dates for their 2021 edition. The fourth volume of the gathering will take place on September 11th and 12th in the Cascine Park of Florence, Italy.
The gathering is known for high-profile house and techno billings, and this years edition makes no exception. The lineup includes famous DJs like Ben Klock, Giorgia Angiuli, Marco Carola, Paul Kalkbrenner and Richie Hawtin, amongst others. The event takes place on two stages over the course of the weekend. Additionally, Spanish promoters elrow will host one stage exclusively.
Decibel Open Air’s founders told Festicket last year that the event was conceived in 2018 with a clear vision of bringing together electronic music and its fans in a massive, outdoor space in the middle of Florence. In addition to this year’s lineup, the world-famous Visarno Arena has played host to numerous other globetrotting DJs. Over the years Carl Cox, Infected Mushroom, Stephan Bodzin and others have performed at the event.
In July 2020 the organizers were forced postpone the event to 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Italy was the first country to implement a national quarantine as a result of the 2020 coronavirus outbreak that has resulted in 2,721,879 confirmed cases and 93,577 deaths to date.
The country has remained in lockdown but opened up at the beginning of 2021. The government has rolled out a strict vaccination program that has already distributed over 3,000,000 doses since the beginning of the year. For now, no concrete timeline is in place for the 2021 return of Italian events or festivals.
The lineup is therefore a glimmer of much-needed hope from the Decibel camp. Exact set times have yet to be announced, but tickets and additional information is available on the Decibel Open Air website.
