Berlin’s Shameless/Limitless Parties Chronicled in New Book

A new book of posters and various writings will chronicle the 12-year history of Berlin DIY party concept Shameless LimitlessPlease Come: Shameless/Limitless Selected Posters 2008-2020 has been compiled by the brand’s founder, Kevin Halpin, and will come out on December 19th.

Halpin enlisted Berlin firm Fertig Design to help with the visual themes of the book, according to Crack Magazine. Among the contributors are musicians Alex Cameron and Molly Nilsson as well as designers Aisha Franz and Tabitha Swanson. Included are 223 posters for events that took place at over 45 venues as well as more than 20 text contributions.

“I had wanted to put together a book which would serve as some kind of S/L overview – be that one of event write-ups, show posters or memories from people who contributed – for a few years,” Halpin told Crack Magazine. “That the project ultimately ended up being a combination of all three is a testament to finding a silver lining in the unexpected free time that 2020 has served up.”

“The groundwork for the book was in many ways set by a surprise which friends (some of whom worked on Please Come) presented to me for S/L’s 10th anniversary back in Dec 2018,” he continued. “It was a book, of which there are only 10, made up of their favorite posters and write-ups. We more or less picked up where that project ended, refining and updating the content, layout and design, and adding guest texts, too.”

Please Come: Shameless/Limitless Selected Posters 2008-2020 is sold out at the time of writing. Halpin originally planned to hand out copies to buyers at Neukölln bar Das Gift Berlin on December 19th, but due to Germany’s COVID-19 situation he has shared plans to send out email instructions for handoff.
