Selector’s Sounds series follows a procedure that puts music quality before status or industry relationships. Learn how it works.

Debuting on Avian is Italy-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer D-Leria. His six-song EP Still Standing explores sounds seldom heard in techno while remaining anchored to the traditions of the genre. It released on December 7th.

D-Leria (real name Giuseppe Scaccio) ventures far outside of his typically driving signature sound throughout Still Standing. “Red Flowers,” for instance, sees the artist dabble in tranquil ambient atmospheres and delicate percussion, whereas “A Life on The Run” clocks in at an anxious 166 BPM. In contrast to the glitch effects common throughout the EP, “Tribalism” utilizes organic textures to result in the most dance floor-friendly track of the effort.

Dissecting D-Leria

Scaccio has disc jockeyed since 2001, initially specializing in hardcore and acid. He launched the D-Leria project in 2014, taking up a residency at Berlin club Affekt shortly thereafter. In addition to his own Delirio record label, his music has found a home on the likes of Gynoid AudioDarknet and Abnormal Recordings.

Still standing is available in digital and 12-inch vinyl formats via Avian Bandcamp.
