Chicago house producer Matthew “Dirty Turk” Agostini passed away on November 24th after contracting COVID-19. His death comes a month before the expected birth of his first son.
According to Chicago Sun-Times, Agostini seldom left his apartment beginning in March as he suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure. He began experiencing symptoms of the virus two weeks before his death, remaining at home the entire time. When he finally called an ambulance to seek treatment, he passed away only an hour and a half after arriving at Norwegian-American Hospital.

A New York City native, Matthew Agostini had designs on becoming a professional breakdancer as a teenager. He participated in competitions across the East Coast and even appeared in the 1984 film Breakin’.
Agostini’s discography dates back to the spoken-word vocal sample he delivered for 2005’s “Talkin’ About” by Mateo & Matos. He relocated to Chicago in 2008 to focus on his work in music with a style he described as “progressive jazz house,” releasing four EPs from 2011-2014 as one third of audiojazz.
