Leon Chue, a dubplate cutting specialist who worked for London pressing and mastering firm Music House, has passed away. His cause of death has not been disclosed at the time of writing.
“Today is a terribly sad day,” tweeted U.K. DJ and producer Doc Scott after receiving the news. “You were always kind, polite, a true professional and a beautiful person to be around and I am deeply saddened by todays news. All my love to your family and close friends, a tragic loss, gone way too soon.”
“So very sad to hear the news of the passing of Leon Chue today,” tweeted DJ Storm. “A truly amazing human being I feel lucky to have spent so many hours at Music House with this man, at the controls cutting dub plates. Rest in peace.”
David Rodigan, DJ Flight and Butterz were also among the artist to mourn Chue on social media.
Chue began working for Music House in 1995 and remained there for two decades. Crack Magazine notes that the company contributed heavily to dubplate culture, leaving a lasting imprint on reggae, jungle and drum and bass.
No memorial details for Leon Chue have been shared with the public at the time of writing.
