Spanish DJ duo Chus & Ceballos are breaking up after a 20-year run. Member Jesús “Chus” Lopez Esteban announced the split on Monday, sharing that he will pursue a solo project under the name DJ Chus.

“It comes with a heavy heart that today I have to inform you, my fans, friends and family, about the end of my long and joyful journey as Chus & Ceballos,” Esteban wrote in a statement. “After 20 years of being together, I am closing this chapter of my career, and as all of you know, eventually, all good things must come to an end. I want to preserve what these 20 years of success have been and let it last eternally in our memories.”

“I want to let everyone know that I will continue to move forward with my solo career as DJ Chus with a new concept which I will be unveiling soon alongside an inspiring group of talent,” Esteban continued. “I have had a career as a solo artist and in a duo that spans for over 35 years, and with this new project that I have decided to dive into, I can genuinely say that I have once again found the musical spark that I needed to continue on my next chapter in life.”

Esteban formed Chus & Ceballos alongside Pablo Ceballos in 2000. They branded their tribal-infused style of tech house as “the Iberican sound” and have run a label called Stereo Productions nearly as long as they’ve been active. They have also released music on such labels as Nervous RecordsToolroom Records and Tronic.

Ceballos has not made a statement of his own regarding the split at the time of writing.
