Since August, over 100 illegal billboards have been taken down across Ibiza by lawmaker decree. House and techno destination DC10 has allegedly flouted the orders and refused to remove six of the fences they use for advertisements on the resort island.
Most billboards in Ibiza are outlawed in the interest of preserving the White Isle’s natural landscapes. Authorities have seldom enforced the mandate over the years, but between 2002 and 2019 outdoor advertising panels have increased by 167% per The Ibizan. 90% of the billboards belong to the company Ibiza Publicidad, who have worked with local authorities to remove 46 of their fences along the Sant Antoni highway according to sources who spoke to Diario de Ibiza.
The same publication suggests DC10 hasn’t been as compliant. They say that two of the nightclub’s fences have been removed, but ownership refuses to take down the other six. The council has allegedly opened an infringement case against the responsible party likely to conclude with a sanction against them as well as removal of the structures at their own expense.
DC10 was opened in 1999 by Spanish brothers Deogracias and Antonio Lara Moreno. Italian promoters and Circoloco founders Antonio Carbonaro and Andrea Pelino brought the flagship event brand to the club the same year. Antonio Lara Moreno holds a majority stake in the venue with Carbonaro and Pelino commanding a small share. The club is often cited as one of the most notable venues in the White Isle.
In total, 82 fences on rustic land and eight in urban land with roughly 100 advertisement panels between them have been removed.
