Over a month ago, Melodic Distraction shared that the building where their studio was located went up for sale. The Liverpool electronic music broadcaster have now called on their fans and supporters for help fund their new space in the city’s Fabric District.
Melodic Distraction – who are presently operating out of Jacaranda Records‘ Phase One record store, coffee shop and venue – want to build their future home out of two shipping containers. The ground-floor container would house a “community-focused coffee shop” with the radio studio in the one above. To that end, they hope to raise £35,000.
“We want this to be a place where the community can come and enjoy the sounds of radio, mingle and hang out. To witness radio happening in real life while enjoying a coffee and good company,” reads a passage of the campaign description. “On top of this, once COVID-19 restrictions permit, we want to host a range of events in the space, with priority, support and subsidies given to events that help uplift our local community, grassroots musicians and organizations.”
