After two years of test transmissions, Bristol radio station SWU.FM has officially launched. Their programming will focus on electronic music – specifically UK garage, dubstep, jungle, drum and bass, reggae and techno/house.

The debut SWU.FM broadcast on October 23rd featured a guest show by Conducta, and this week saw artists such as My Nu LengSepiaPulsar and Bandulu take to the airwaves. The station will host regular appearances by the likes of Om UnitGutterfunkAddison Groove and Sam Binga, according to DJ Mag.

Bristol is also home to electronic music radio stations like 1020 Radio and Noods. The city’s legacy in DJ and remix culture extends back to the ’70s when sound systems grew popular there. In the ’80s, hip-hop culture converged with activist movements to lay the groundwork for the emergence of trip-hop.

SWU.FM aims to run 24/7. Locals in Bristol can tune in to the station at 103.7 FM, and listeners across the globe can access live streams via their official website.
