Berlin festival brand Radical Sounds Latin America debuted in October 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic will not prevent the 2020 gathering from taking place on October 2nd-4th – although organizers will follow the lead of events like MUTEK and Sónar+D by combining digital and physical event formats.
Radical Sounds will take place in a reduced capacity at Radialsystem in Berlin. Some 20 artists, speakers and musicians will make appearances, in addition to live-streamed performances by artists like Catnapp, Laura Mello and Mario de Vega from several South and Central American countries. The event will also serve as a fundraiser with 100% of donations going to Taller Salud, a Puerto Rican gender equality initiative.
Radical Return
The first edition of Radical Sounds Latin America was born from a desire to integrate Latin American music, art and ideas with creative communities in Berlin. Additionally, organizers set out to address issues like migration and identity.
The 2019 event took place at creative spaces MONOM, which is located in Funkhaus Berlin. Throughout the year since, the team behind Radical Sounds has also provided a platform for ongoing collaboration with participating groups.
Radical Sounds Latin America will be live streamed via the event website.
