London artist Altered Natives has introduced a new consulting agency specialized in the advancement of cultural diversity in electronic music. Dubbed Trinity Black, the team will work with labels and event organizers looking to improve the non-white representation on their rosters and lineups. They aim to carefully match the vision of their clients with artists on their roster to find a perfect fit based on the client’s style and genre. The team currently consists of consultants from Europe, North America, Africa and Australia.
The agency’s mission statement further explains how they will be committed to the fight against the racial imbalance in the music industry.
“We are Trinity Black Cultural Diversity Consultants,” it reads. “Our aim is to provide a much-needed service to the dance music industry by tackling cultural diversity in a racially biased and heavily unbalanced industry built on the creative foundations of music of Black & Gay origin which has now become undeniably whitewashed.”
Through these actions, they look to play a part in every aspect of the dance music industry and create a sustainable economy for black artists. Later on in the mission statement, they illustrate how people in the position of power need to actively work towards this goal and explain the significant cultural inclusion in the early days of electronic music.
“This is the time for change, but this can only be done by collaborative efforts between the have and the have nots that are both committed to the sustainability and empowerment of marginalized communities, whilst also returning electronic music back to its core foundation of inclusion and innovation,” it goes on.
Trinity Black is now accepting submissions from both prospective clients and artists. Those interested can learn more on the agency website.
