Returning to Dutch label Leyla Records is none other than U.K. DJ and producer Rommek. His latest effort, titled Break The Tension, comprises six cuts of visceral hard techno. It released September 4th, 2020.
Calculated use of loud, grating textures characterizes the title track as well as singles like “The Damage Is Done” and “Häxan Healer.” Meanwhile, “Gamma Ray” and “Haraka Haraka” exhibit subtle industrial techno influences. “Cabin Pressure” features vocalist Aimée Mullen, one half of the producer’s side project, Torn Relics.
Rommek Revisited
Rommek (real name Romek Boyer) put out his debut effort, the Thought Patterns EP, by way of German label Weekend Circuit in 2014. In the time since, he’s added releases on such outfits as Sonntag Morgen, Blueprint, Methodical and Sacred Court to his résumé.
2019 saw Boyer debut on Leyla Records with the April release of Deadly Nightshade. Cinematic and suspenseful, the five-track effort was not a far cry from what he has delivered in Break The Tension.
