With many promoters thinking outside the box to dance around social distancing measures put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has now witnessed the rise of live-streamed performances to help tide over those deeply missing the live music experience. There’s still no telling exactly when the global situation will return to some semblance of normalcy, however.
So much uncertainty, especially in the live music landscape, begs the question: what’s next?
Denver-based nightlife brand CoClubs may have the answer. Enter The Acoma Street Project: a limited six-week open air pop-up event that features live-streamed DJ sets, an art walk, and dining. The experience is reservation based, and attendees can lock in a table seat for four, with add-on options that will allow eight total people at each table. Said tables will be spaced at least six feet apart from each other, allowing attendees to enjoy the music live streams and art in a safe manner that adheres to Denver’s social distancing mandates.
In its first weekend of operation from Thursday, August 27th through Saturday, August 29th, the event will play host to DJ sets from Blond:ish, Dubfire, and Random Rab, which will be live streamed on a 26-foot screen that’s visible throughout the entire space and complete with festival grade production.
The space is large, containing the 5,000 square foot art walk gallery, where attendees can see work from Denver-based artists and a visual show from festival artist Android Jones. Maintaining accordance with social distancing guidelines, the art walk will operate by staggering groups of up to eight attendees at a time, who will enjoy the visuals while accompanied by an escort.
Those groups also must arrive to The Acoma Street Project at the same time, wear masks for the duration of the event at all times other than when eating and drinking, and remain in their table reservation area when not using the restroom or enjoying their scheduled art walk.
TheHundred promises to adhere to all regulations put forth by the city of Denver, and they reserve the right to refuse service to any attendee not acting in compliance with those guidelines.
Building onto the live-streamed music concept with open-air space and adherence to pandemic protocols, The Acoma Street Project is not only what appears to be the first event of its kind, but an example of how creativity may help push things forward in a time where live events and public gatherings have become scarce.
