With the immediate future as uncertain as ever, Bandcamp‘s no-fee holidays will extend through the rest of 2020. On the first Friday of every month, the download and streaming platform will waive all vendor fees.
Bandcamp’s first No-Fee Friday took place on March 20th, shortly after COVID-19 panic reached a fever pitch. The next one took place on May 1st, followed by a Juneteenth holiday with all proceeds going to the NAACP. In total, the company reports generating $20 million for artists across each of the events.
The remaining 2020 no-fee Fridays will fall on the following dates: August 7th, September 4th, October 2nd, November 6th and December 4th.
“It’s a good reminder that Bandcamp Fridays are really an extension of what Bandcamp is about every day,” reads a feature on their website. “Thank you to all the artists and labels who shared their music with us, and the fans who spent their hard-earned coins to support the artists they love.”
Bandcamp reports that fans have bought $75 million worth of music and merchandise since the pandemic started.
